Your Vote Counts – Ambassadors will be Knocking on Doors

As you may know, not every item of business needed to operate a homeowner's association can be achieved by the Board. And you wouldn't/shouldn't want it to be that way!

The upcoming Annual Meeting on December 10 is when Board members are elected. This year there are two positions open, and one week out, we have received two applications. The terms that are expiring are that of Kelly Coronel, our current president, and Charles Speigner, our member at large. The applications we have received are from Kelly Coronel, for a successive three-year term, and Patricia Speigner, the wife of the current board member, for a three-year term as well.

All business to come before the homeowners at the Annual Meeting is voted on in person, or if an owner cannot attend, then they can designate someone to vote for them. This is done by submitting a 2024 Proxy.  If you don't know who to designate (it must be someone you know will be attending the meeting in person), you can select the President or another Board member to vote for you. We must achieve a quorum of 20% of our homeowners, or 77 people/proxies, to conduct any business, including the election.

The process of amending our governing documents has an even higher standard, so a Special Meeting will immediately follow the Annual Meeting for this purpose. We need a quorum of 75% to take up this matter. A Proxy filed for the Annual Meeting does not apply to the Special Meeting. If you cannot attend in person, you should vote early by submitting a 2024 Absentee Ballot. The "plain" ballot you received in the mailing was in error; that will be used if you are present at the meeting.

Ambassadors appointed by the president will be reaching out THIS WEEK to every home that has not yet filed a proxy and absentee ballot to either collect those forms in advance of the meeting or to determine a commitment to attend in person.

Your vote is important, and it definitely matters! Remember, one of the goals of the Board is to protect your home's value, and this is achieved in part by the best management and guidance we can offer, which in turn is dependent upon the Board you elect and the governing documents that authorize them to act.
